EXERCISE DESCRIPTION
This exercise is designed to be practiced by anyone, in any context, at any moment of the day. Its purpose is to reassure us, to ground us, and to help us feel ready for whatever comes next. The proposal is simply to practice, for as long as needed, a ritual. Do what you know best, what you can do without thinking, what already feels automatic, either because you have always done it, or because you love doing it. This time, do it with mindfulness. Consider habits as a precious place of refuge, especially when dealing with fatigue or instability. Do what you know best, right now, so as to increase your capacity to reach outside your comfort zone.
TAKING IT FURTHER
A change of location may lead to a specific ritual and can help cultivate a sense of inner strength. A playlist of music you love can also be a comfort.
