Workshop: Symposium

The Corps engagé (Engaged body) Symposium took place on January 27th and 28th 2024 as part of Sarah Simili’s performance Fluide, a show created using the methodology of practice-based research. The piece was performed on the theatre’s main stage each evening, and discussions and workshops organized by the Reboot team and guest experts were held during the day. The audience, made up largely of friends and allies, brought together people interested both in Sarah Simili’s work and in the Reboot project.

The program alternated between theoretical discussions and practical workshops. Highlights included an open discussion between Lise Lerichomme and Sarah Simili about the performance, as well as insights put forward by Teresa Mansano and Lise Lerichomme on how we see marginalized bodies on stage. Marion Guyez and Agathe Dumont also led workshops addressing issues related to performance research and creation.

One of the main objectives of the Symposium was to create connections between friends and professionals who are interested in Reboot’s activities. A round table discussion titled “Penser la convergence des luttes” (“Thinking through the convergence of struggles”) was held in the theatre’s lobby to share updates on the project and clarify certain aspects based on participants’ feedback. Although not originally planned, additional discussion and debrief sessions were organized each morning to foster collaboration during the Symposium.
