Atypical Presentation
Who
A group of 6 to 20 people, teens and adults
Where
Any type of space
DURATION
30 – 45 minutes, depending on the group
MATERIALS
Prepare sheets with “cells”: circles drawn quickly on an A4 page. There should be 1 sheet per participant. Each cell-circle corresponds to a question related to the participant’s uniqueness and to the themes of the workshop. Example questions: What is the most incredible situation you’ve encountered in your work? What drives you to create? Describe a scene from your favorite show/book/film? What do you love most in the world besides [workshop organizer fills in the blank]? Three words synonymous with [workshop organizer fills in the blank].
EXERCISE DESCRIPTION
Each participant takes 10 – 15 minutes to fill in the cells. The sheets are then mixed and redistributed at random. Each person chooses a specific position in the workspace and proceeds to share the content of the sheet they received, using “I” sentences. Afterwards they try to guess who these unique traits belong to. This exercise helps begin a collaboration by disrupting preconceived roles and highlighting each person’s singularity.
