EXERCISE DESCRIPTION
Choral reading is a way of “coming together” as a group to read a text and “give it a voice.” This is a collective practice used to integrate written material and to create a group synergy through reading. The protocol for choral reading is as follows:
- The text is read in order
- Anyone may read at any moment, for as long as they wish
- Each person may choose the number of words or sentences they read
- Chacun·e est libre de répéter un mot, une phrase qu’il·elle souhaite faire résonner
- Each person is free to repeat a word or phrase they wish to emphasize
- The reading tempo is freely chosen
TAKING IT FURTHER
It’s possible to discuss how the choral reading affected the group’s collective understanding of the text and its future applications.
