EXERCISE DESCRIPTION

Within the context of a collective project (whether within the artistic-cultural sector or elsewhere), a micro-strategy is a tool for preserving physical, mental, and social wellbeing. Developing a micro-strategy means taking a moment to turn inwards and taking the time, space, and care that we need. A micro-strategy is useful when one feels tired, lacking in motivation, in physical pain, weary of the group, or fragile; it is to be used before the sensations take up too much space. The micro-strategy should be discussed beforehand within the group, as it’s important to speak collectively about the possibility that someone may need to step away from the group or rest. The micro-strategy is then accepted by everyone as part of the work. Thus the need to use a micro-strategy does not need to be validated by the group. The micro-strategy belongs to the person who needs to call on it, and can involve taking a rest break, having a nap, isolating oneself from the group, going for a walk, knitting, going outside, reflecting alone, etc.
